Below is a list of frequently asked questions, which may solve problems you face with using Petals Connect
- How do I install Petals Connect?
Petals Connect is easy to install simply download installer from here. Petals Network suggests you download the installer to your Windows desktop. The Petals Connect installer will run you through the installation process of Petals Connect step by step. You will be prompted for where you would like to install Petals Connect, Petals Network suggests that use the default location to install Petals Connect which will likely be C:\Program Files\Petals Connect\. The installer will also have an option to start Petals Connect when you turn on your computer and where you would like shortcuts installed to allow you to easily start Petals Connect.
- How do I remove Petals Connect?
To remove Petals Connect go to the start menu then Programs, from there find the "Petals Connect" folder and click on the "Remove Petals Connect" at this point you will then be prompted to confirm you want to remove Petals Connect. You can also remove Petals Connect by using the Add/Remove Programs from the Windows control panel.
- Is Petals Connect running?
Petals Connect is running if there is a Petals Network icon in the system tray. The system tray is near the clock, on the bottom right hand side of the computer screen. Click here for an image of Petals Connect running in the system tray.
- How do I quit Petals Connect?
To quit Petals Connect right click on the Petals Connect system tray icon (near the clock on the bottom right hand side) a menu will popup select the "Exit" item, and Petals Connect will quit.
- How do I start Petals Connect?
Starting Petals Connect is simple, just click on the shortcut icon (either on your desktop, or in start menu - programs - Petals Connect) if it is your first time running Petals Connect, the application will prompt your for your Petals Network member number and password. You may have selected for it to automatically start when you turn on your computer, this doesn't stop you from starting Petals Connect manually although next time you restart your computer Petals Connect will be already running.
- Can I use Petals Connect if I have dial-up internet?
Petals Connect will only check for new orders if there is an internet connection present. Currently we recommend that members who are on broadband or cable internet use Petals Connect. Members who use dialup internet, recommend using the current Petals Exchange/Email system of receiving orders.
- Do I still have to log into Petals Exchange?
Because Petals Connect stores your member number and password, it will automatically log you onto the Petals Exchange. You are still required to visit the Petals Exchange to collect and send orders, but the process has been greatly simplified. Simply double click on the Petals Network icon in the system tray will get you where you need to be.
- Why does it require my member number and password?
Petals Connect stores your member number and password so it can tell if you have orders or messages for collection. It also stores these to allow for quicker collection and order sending.
- What if I change my password?
If you contact Petals and change your password, you will be required to change your password in Petals Connect for it to continue to work correctly. To do this simply right click on the Petals Network icon in the system tray and click settings menu item. A settings dialog will appear on the screen. On the settings dialog you are then required to enter your new password and click save.
- I hate that sound can I stop it or change it?
You can stop the sound on the Petals Connect client by right clicking Petals Network icon in the system tray and the clicking settings. A dialog will appear were you can select to stop the sound playing when you receive an order or a message. Some people find the sound that we use for the Petals Exchange and Petals Connect annoying, but the sound was chosen for a purpose. Often florists will have their computer in a different room, therefore it can be difficult to hear a sound. We chose a sound which is loud and unique for this purpose. If you find a sound you would rather use contact Petals Network and we will help you change it.
